All rained off

Sahana for breakfast, had a refreshing papaya juice. I saw another gorgeous kingfisher atop the surfing advert pole, reminding me of the Yeends (I have sent you an email and FB message if you are reading, Linds, as texts won’t go thru). We had to tell our dear host Marco we de leaving early for a tour of the island. He seemed genuinely upset! The language barrier made it hard to explain that is nothing he has done wrong, we just under estimated the size of the island, and it’s really silly to too and fro going to each other place of interest and travel back down to Unawatuna each day.
It has been an overcast, funny sorta day. My belly is kicking off about the food so I have wanted to stay somewhere within running distance of a decent loo. So we have watched the first few episodes of Game of Thrones again (they all look so young!), and it reminds us of Belfast & Northern Ireland, as we recognise some of the places now. It also makes you realise how clever it is with a bit of foresight into what is going to happen in the future. We have decided to go to Malta in the Easter break, to see some of the other Season 1 film locations, so it’s fun to find the Dothraki / Daenerys scenes that are filmed there too.
We saw some other BRIGHT yellow and black mid-small birds which seemed to be drinking the sap of the palm leaves. I love watching the nature. Also had a lil video call from the Kimpton seniors and Ches & Abigail (I discovered FB chat filters and spent most of it as a bunny!)
We are really looking forward to travelling to a different part of the island tomorrow, and will miss our attentive and humble host, but need to cut loose a bit, to do more of our own thing, and hopefully head away from the tropical storms. As mind blowing as they are, and I am glad to have witnessed, they do bring a small place like this to a standstill. I still can’t believe all the stories the people have to tell about the tsunami and the corrupt government. The poor civilians here have really had a raw deal. The Mother that owned our fave breakfast snack bar, Sahana, was tragically killed in the giant wave. But they still all carry on with her matriarchal photo watching over them busying about.
