Pearl harbour(farm)

So as we set off to the Pearl Farm my Hungarian friend tells me the the pearls are created by sand irritating the oyster. The pearls are just limestone he tells me. This guy is clever!

So we disembark the satellite boat and get handed over to the staff, the lady says ‘You are mine now’, laughs all round. The people we have met in Vietnam have been so happy and friendly, lovely place!

She shows us the insides of the shells , I can see lots of Mother of Pearl, otherwise known as guitar inlays. We then go through the farm and high is series of bets in the water. The oysters are cleaned regularly I assume to keep them separated.

The next stage was a lady implanting the oysters with u think clean sand and then an anti-bacterial to keep them healthy.

After this one of the group picked an oyster to open to see if it contained a pearl- it did ! But it was not a perfect pearl… tbh I prefer the imperfections as it has more character.

As Cat browsed the products I made friend with a dog, which may have been a German Shepherd, it seemed to enjoy the head rub.

It was a nice little place after we boarded the satalite boat to continue the journey, the sun is in full swing now and it is glorious, warm but not humid, excellent!

Cat is better at these ‘what we did blogs’…..
