Bathing like the aboriginals

Lake Birrabeen

So the final stop of the first days tour was a dip in Lake Birrabean, a place where the aboriginals used to come to bath and to cure illness. Our guide tells us that the fresh water lake has a very low PH and that oils from the nearby tea trees has made the water antiseptic.

The shoreline has silica sand, pure white and incredibly soft to the touch.

We ventured in for a great swim, the water is so clear and you can go in with your eyes open without them stinging!

We only had 45 minutes here but could have easily stayed for a day, awesome!
