We are going to the rain forest and a lake today as the tide is high and not so good for the beach activities.
So once the ferry has taken the bus across to the largest sand island in the world, Fraser Island (discovered by Captain Cook in 17 something), we stop at a red canyon to the side of the beach and the clouds have shifted to reveal shiny blue skies! The colours of the canyon lit up like fire, ignited by the rays. Really it’s red oxide or ‘rust’, but doesn’t sound quite as exciting. Rusty sand. The views of the sea from the walk up the terracotta sands is just outstanding. I ask the couple walking down in front of us if they would like me to take a photo of them both, as it was just photographically perfect with the red giant termite hills, canopied by pines, and the beach in the distance in front of them. They just looked at me gone out and said no! Haha! Oooookay!
