I stuffed up with my copy paste, so just putting this on again. No edit button! One for Leon to fix when we get back 🤪

Howard & Linds once bought a lovely bottle of Fox Creek wine from the Wine Connection in Northampton. A particular Shiraz Grenache ended up one of our fave reds. Really tasty, silky & not too heavy. By the way, I do have to point out, we are by no means wine experts, but I know most wine I have tried is no where near as delicious as this one. We realised that the vineyards were only a 10 min drive from the disappointing moana beach. So off we headed through the rolling dusty hills & green vines. When we found fox creek, I felt utterly elated! A bit of a weird reaction really, but it was just so incredibly cool to be there. Like meeting someone famous!
Compared to the other vineyards we had visited on outer group trip, this one felt much more personal & we were really ‘into’ it, which was a shame for Leon who was driving. So. Without further ado!
1. 2017 vermentino – This was a citrusy, tart, tasty, refreshing number, which drew inspiration from Sardinian wines. I really enjoyed this but did have an odd after taste. Maybe the lemon.
2. 2016 Chardonnay – typically creamy, with a smoother finish on the palate, and somehow a bit yeasty to me! Leon preferred it.
3. Sparkling Vixen Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Franc – our first taste of a red sparking, and boy did it impress! Cherry flavours blooming, so sweet & bubbly. Festive in a bottle.
4. 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon- oaky rich flavours & really needed a roast dinner to eat alongside it. I found it a bit overpowering, but it certainly was still smooth & no acidic aftertaste.
5. 2015 Postmaster granache shiraz mouverdre- this was the closest they had to the Yeends old fave of the Shiraz granache, and it was similar, fruity, and very drinkable (always good!)
6. 2014 Jim’s Script Cabernet Sauvignon merlot Cabernet franc petit Verdot – Leon’s fave, an elegant red that was very tasty. The dash of Verdot brought out vanilla notes. Yum!
We only have hand luggage so although we can’t buy much, they give us a card for Tilleys of Northamptonshire, who do free freight with a code of holidaymemories if anyone fancies! We may indulge once we have a house again. I’m sure we will have volunteers to stash it for us! I need more of that Vixen in my life! I try their grand cuvee Arctic Fox too, as we wanted a gift for Nanny Carol & Tony for their hospitality, and my oh my, that was soooo good! Quite sweet with a very fine bubble, but much better than champers! We ordered a regional platter which had some lovely crackers & cheese, and I had a glass of their Sauvignon Blanc to compliment it too. I normally choose Sauvignon Blanc in a white. Really tart and dry, and a bit peachy / gooseberry to my tastebuds. Our lovely assistant, Rosalind, explained humbly that Fox Creek isn’t known for its Sauvignon Blanc, but I really liked it! All the staff their were terrific, making us feel so welcome & telling us the 30 year history of Fox Creek and how the location is perfect for the soul and temperature. They have a moderate 100acres of vineyard, and I had the pleasure of drinking my glass of wine right next to the grape bushes that made them! What an experience & what a place. Definitely one of my happy places. The gardens are a delight of wildflower and birds and just oh so perfect!
