We arrived at Lisa and Brent’s place about 3pm, and they had made us a delicious spiced soup. We had bought a loaf from Brown Sugar cafe in Jedburgh that we were assured it was made fresh and from ancient grains! It was really delicious and such a treat after our road trip, and so good to see the guys. We chatted and caught up, and then headed to city to a couple of pubs (and found tables!) before going into the Ada Turkish restaurant. We had some tasty meze, and some falafel and halloumi. Oh my gosh, what a lovely meal, and a complete shock that the guys insisted on treating us. How generous!

We then headed back to get ready to watch the fireworks over the castle. We wrapped up warm, champagne and flutes in hand, and walked a few mins up to road to join a congregation of local families. It was a lovely atmosphere, and Lisa was super keen to pop the cork hehe! When the clock struck midnight, a new decade was joined by the faint sound of bagpipes, and cascades of multicoloured fireworks flew up over the magically lit silhouette of Edinburgh castle.
After the celebrations, and a much more gentle version of Auld Lang Syne than last year, we returned to Lisa & Brent’s home, and they treated us to some divine cherry brandy, and bless them, they let us have their bed! And when Leon drew back the covers, I was astonished and overwhelmed that they had put a pair of matching hot water bottles in the bed for us. Truly blessed and grateful to have such thoughtful friends. Happy new decade, and here’s to another roaring 20’s!!
