We ate our pre-purchased pastries for breakfast & set onwards for our scenic route to Edinburgh, to spend Hogmanay with our dear friends Lisa & Brent.
We had a beautiful drive through rolling countryside of Northumberland, and stopped at the Scots border. It really jogs a memory of being here as a child.
We made our way to Jedburgh, where the infamous boiled minty sweeties come from. It’s a quaint town, with an beautiful imposing ruined abbey at the entrance, and lots of little shops, a few charity shops, boots chemist, butchers (that sold the snails), and Brown Sugar, the cafe we stopped in, and everyone was really friendly.
We then took the scenic route through Coldstream (where my Gran’ma was born), and then via the Berwick coastline. Some pretty little seaside villages!
