Landing in Kefalonia airport shennanigans

After going through border security, there was a staff member instructing people in broken English ‘You (points at me) test, you (points at Leon) go through. I assumed this was the random Covid testing I’d heard about. I was very anxious to be split up but had no choice. It seemed they were taking one of each family. I went and stood in line, got the mandatory elongated cotton bud tickled on my tonsils, & they scanned the QR code that I had to obtain before arrival. I came out from round the screen, & saw leon chatting to a guy, whose girlfriend was also getting the test. There were no instructions to what happened next, so we just merrily went and got a cab to our hotel.

It costed 20 euros flat rate to hotel, & we were met by Violetta, who let us choose a room. It was getting late & we were hungry, so she made a few phone calls to get us pizza in. This was a treat for me, as I’m not eating gluten or dairy, but beggars can’t be choosers, & I’m on holiday. Hey, I have to try it some time, right? 10 min later, the same couple arrived at the hotel, that Leon was chatting to in the airport while waiting for us girls! Small old world. They are called Moni & Heather, and as Heather puts her stuff in the room, Moni said he’s proposing to Heather at some point in the hol. He has a different way of thinking to us clearly, as stressed about Wi-Fi as he’s a big football fan & wants to watch it while on hol!! Strange priorities to me, but takes all sorts. He also mentions money being no object for the proposal plan to Violetta, and seems to be what I’d call a London wide-boy, and far too into the cost of everything. As we are at a budget hotel, that doesn’t fully add up, but whatever.

Our pizza arrives, & I had a vase of white wine, and Leon had a beer. There are many wild cats in Greece, so we fed them our crusts, & made some little friends.

I was quite merry by the end of the night, as I don’t drink often… so when we snuggled into bed, & I was under Leon’s arm, I decided I was a Pyjama shark (These are stripy sharks in South Africa, that eat octopus’ – See the documentary ‘My Octopus Teacher’ on Netflix, and it will make more sense), & lightly bit Leon’s under arm. Apparently its very sensitive there, and Leon’s reaction made me giggle so much! So funny, but one of those things you probably had to be there.
