Today, we chose to go for a walk along the scenic route to Argostoli. It was very hot and quite a bit further than we’d anticipated. While stood at a crossroads, a young family stopped and asked us where we were trying to get to. Follow them for a short cut across towards a cafe/ pub and in towards Argostoli, or straight ahead for more coastline and another hours walk. We chose to follow them. The lady who was from mainland Greece was called Eleni & she had a family of husband, daughter, granddaughter, and son in law. We all rested at the cafe and I had a cappuccino freddo (iced coffee with condensed milk), and my gosh I needed it! This was when it was explained about Greeks not asking if you want refills, so not bad service last night, that’s just how they are!
When we got to argostoli, we had a lovely mooch about, and I had some incredible pistachio and brownie ice cream, and we coined the idea that Greek food is ‘dirty-fresh’. You heard it here first.
For the journey back, we chose to take the shorter direct route but what anybody had failed to tell us is this includes HUGE STEEP hills:
This led to me having a sleep at 3.30, while Leon sun bathed some more.
We went to the Eden bar for dinner/ cocktails once we’d gathered and washed ourselves. A lovely private feeling, cat free bar with snacks, and friendly staff, who were happy to look after us.
We also accidentally discovered the delights of Oregano lays crisps!
