Geneva Day 1

We left off in the morning, first time we had a full on house sitter, Jane, to look after Figgy… it felt very reassuring actually.

It was a very smooth and uneventful journey to Geneva. I read a witch-lit book called Weyward that auntie Moo has loaned me. I won’t give any spoilers, but it is really good so far and I think will be a great travel companion.

Another straightforward journey from the airport to Geneva Centre of about eight minutes on a very comfortable train to our hotel.

I relax for an hour while Leon has a quick sauna

After unpacking, we had a little mooch around. We walked to the street parallel to our hotel. (9 Hotel Paquis), two minutes walk away and I noticed a beautiful glow of a window around Leon‘s silhouette of lilac ombré, and peep around him to be confronted with what could only be described as a young Trisha (do you remember Trisha from the morning TV show in the 90’s) dressed in a fluorescent boob tube sat in the window! Young Trisha here, looked extremely gormless and staring at her phone.

We take a hurried scurry in the rain, over to the lake where there is a ‘Christmas’ market, called ‘Quai’ …I think this stands for keys. Now call me traditional, but I would have expected this to be German. Or at the least Swiss. It had an array of odd food huts, including oh my Greek and Inglewood burger. hmmm! We dart into what is called a Christmas pub (wooden hut) to get away from the rain and the ghastly repetitive pop music they are playing across the entire Christmas market… yet more ghastly music but louder! We dry off thaw out and get back out.

We decide to find some dinner. After looking on horrified at the costs of a lot of restaurants, we settle on a lovely looking warm Thai place. The food was absolutely divine and I had beef Penang and Leon had chicken Massaman.

We come back to the hotel after, and watch Hansel and Gretel in German for a bit before dozing off about 9pm, grabbing an early night. Traveling is always a bit exhausting on the day!
