Geneva day 3/ Annecy, France

It’s my birthday 🥳

Woke up in a bit of a PMT induced funk, so we get straight out to try turn it round. To the train station to ‘Venice of the Alps’ aka Annecy, France. It’s near £40 for one way and 90min. But it doesn’t disappoint! Lovely crisp cold air, surrounded by snow tipped alps… cute cobbled alleys, set about lots of fast flowing rivers. Colourful medieval buildings, and locally made artisan products.

I choose Lilas Rose Restaurant, for my birthday luncheon. much cheese fondue was consumed!! Very special and relaxing, with amazing service.

We leave high on cheese! the harbour is calling, to stroll off some of the stodge that is currently setting in our guts! Stunning scenery, and the clearest blue waters, and bobbing little boats.

About 3pm, we start the journey back towards the train station, stopping for a tasty fresh roasted coffee at Adrenaline.

When we get to the train station, we expect to see a train at 3.44pm, as I’d checked and they were on the hour. Apparently not in the hour of 3! So we go across to the bus ticket sales, and the woman said we need to pay on the bus directly with cash and will be €10.50 each. Better than train and it goes at 3.50pm (it’s now about 3.30pm). So we leg it to an ATM, and grab out €30, pop into a shop to get a bottled drink to break the note, as bus drivers can be funny if no change. Make our way back to bus area… the guy in front trying to buy a ticket, and driver asking for €20!! I realise what’s happening, my phone won’t get WiFi, and Leon has about 5% battery left… so I tell him to quickly book us a ticket each online (Blablacar is the coach company). It’s €12 for both of us!! He gets it all to go through by the skin of our teeth, and we are allowed on. Phew!! That was close to a fleecing!

We have a smug journey back AND it’s only 45min journey on the coach! 🤩👌

A very light dinner tonight after eating half our body weight in melted cheese for lunch!! Pickled pumpkin salad and a tart au citron.
