Day 2 afternoon: Prague, a hunt for soup

We both managed to have a good nap from about 1.30 to 3.30pm, and decided to go for a long walk along the riverbank to a suppose soup festival.

I worked out we roughly had to follow the river for about an hour. So off we set. About half an hour and we got to an extremely crowded bridge which we realised was the famous one, Charles Bridge. It was so ridiculously crowded. I just wanted to get through it and off the other side as soon as possible. It was Gothic, brown, cobble stones and lots of religious figures on statues, some with gold bits on. We preferred the plainer ones that we had seen. There were so many people posing and pouting on the side of the bridge, I couldn’t help but find it very odd they were more worried about what they looked like, than the surrounding beauty.

As soon as we got off the other side of the bridge, it was equally as full of people so we took an immediate left down some steps and found our way to the Riverside again where there were less crowds. I saw a poster for a museum of film special effects which looked interesting, but we didn’t have time to stop because the soup festival closed at 6 pm. I wasn’t sure if it was more good children as the poster had lots of tots on.

Another 30 minute walk onwards, past some giant bronze babies with barcodes in their faces (very Lynchian!), and we arrive at a row of street food vans in front of the riverbank. We started with a bowl of soup each. I had a white fish Nordic one and Leon had a more traditional Czech one and we did share. We also had a bowl of prawns that were fresh off the grill that stole the show.

We then went to another food store of Korean descent and chose to share a bowl of meat dumplings in a clear soup and kimchi Jeon which was fried into a little patty like an omelette.

We then had a massive long walk back to the hotel again, but went alongside the other side of the river and back through the city.

These are roughly the 2 loops we did today, starting in the top right corner monastery Gardens, which is our hotel. Red Loop was this morning and blue loop was this afternoon.
