Mirissa beach

We had our first day without our trusty guide today and what a Tuk tuk for the whole day and waiting for us yesterday was 800 lrk (£4), was 2700 lrk for 2 half hr journeys! (£13.50). Makes a difference having a local with you! They tried to charge 4000 but I did haggle them down a bit. Annoying that so many people want to rip you off I’m this beautiful country.
Mirissa beach was stunning. The bright azure sea shone brilliantly in the suns rays, as the golden sand was much finer and softer than Unawatuna. The waves were powerful and crashed over 6ft. Surrounding the shoreline was luscious greenery, and little shacks and houses with smoke billowing, palm trees rustling in the sea breeze.
It is of course, very warm, so we walk around the coastline and find a set of chalets that are tucked under the coconut trees, and a perfect equilibrium of warmth, breeze, and fruit pancakes made for a very happy Cat. The drinks were odd. The mango juice had tiny fibres that caught in the back of my throat and looked like plastic although the lady insists I should not be afraid, it’s just mango. I couldn’t drink it. And the ice coffee had chocolate ice cream floating in! I am not fond of choc icecream but gave it a go.
After a peaceful relax, watching the divers bob in and out of the lighter blue parts of the ocean, we walked back through the foyer and Leon’s little face lit up as he found an unattended Spanish guitar. He played a bit of more than words, and Hendrix, and then went on our merry way.
