Cats given me the challenge to blog, I’ve really enjoyed her style writing so I’ve refrained a little bit here goes!
Our trip to Sri Lanka was our first attempt at using Airbnb, cat selected Marco Polo’s BNB which is run by Marco (his Chinese name is Chen). On arrival into Unawatuna we picked Marco up so that he could show directions to the property. Upon arrival to the house, which is a lovely newly built property up a side street and far from the main road with a lucious garden and reptile friendly river. He took our bags for us and shown us our room which thankfully had AC!
Cat went to bed and I followed soon after (3pm local) and didn’t wake up (except for the monkey incident, see other posts) until 9 the next day! Once we woke up and was greeted by the incredible weather and sounds of the wildlife, Marco had made us an incredible breakfast and Ceylon tea.
Marco has looked after us so well, either making breakfast or taking us to Sahana, an awesome locals cafe set up on Bonevusta beach (surf-tastic!) and every evening without fail, cooking us incredible food, he says that his wife is a better cook but he’s super awesome.
We have had a good chat every evening and it’s been an amazing place to stay. He’s always so smiley and has a great outlook on life.
Onwards now to a four day tour, we’re going to Yala(safari style national park), Ella(up in the mountains where there are waterfalls!), Nuwara Eliya (tea plantation), Kandy (tooth relic) ending up in Negombo which is a seaside place near the airport for our flight onto Kuala Lumpur.
Hope we can update the blog on the way , if not there will be a flurry when we get to somewhere with WiFi
