Leon has survived! Hoorah! Still some crampy tum moments, but much better. I went downstairs last night, to hang with the Croatian couple. I tell you what, it feels so good to be communicating to another who doesn’t speak English! Technology prevails (Duolingo is the biz!). My feet and legs got gobbled up again by mozzys, despite the medicine. I am kinda used to it now. I had a bit of a dance about in the bedroom & then hit the sack, with a hot and curled up Leon. Clearly the healing at work.
Upon awakening, I had been hit by the dreaded runs. Uh oh! And a flight today 😱 I just had a breakfast of papaya juice and hoped for the best. It seemed to settle after a few hours, phew!
The security coming out of Sri Lanka was a bit bonkers. They confiscated my tiny rounded end scissors, and seriously looked at my enclosed nail clippers. Didn’t spot the cuticle cutters, thank goodness!
The flight was so quick after the mega long one to Mumbai! 3.5hr, pffft! Nothing! Air Asia, very good & cheap. Happy with them. Getting ready to land, my first view of KL is, very very green & fields of palms!
After a quick bite, we found a taxi, that you pre purchase a coupon, so it doesn’t cost extra! Wonderful idea, as unbeknownst to us, today is lay day of work for a long weekend in KL, making the roads ridiculously busy, and crawling along like the M25. Although annoying, I was happy at least not to be paying extra for the annoyance.
I asked the taxi driver about the palms, and he explained they are for oil! Wow! Acres and acres of them! KL is much more multicultural, with a Western/ Chinese/ Arabic mixture, and as we draw into the city the sunlight is fading to reveal a sparkling, magical looking collection of skyscrapers! Very impressive & certainly very different to any scenery I have witnessed. Love it! There are many familiar brands, from KFC to Cartier. No asian style symbols as words to be seen.
The Penang born driver suddey proclaimed, ‘Ikea very good, buy and take home for screw’. I’m such a child, & found that hilarious! So we are dropped off amongst the glittering commercialism, bustling with very civilised behaviour. A band is playing outside Mcdonalds bringing a crowd.
Walking up the stairs to Sunshine Bedz hostel, I had a lovely warm feeling knowing that my beauteous friend Kiki has also walked these exact same steps a few years back! BTS&S moment!
So we are to stay in a mixed 6 bed dorm. Really weird experience for a married couple. Clearly no females ever go into a mixed dorm, as the guys in there seemed very confused, like they didn’t want to look at me haha! Whatevs. I have been given a top bunk of quite a rickety wooden bed. Yikes. Now I sleep walk & talk when I’m unfamiliar places, so this could be interesting. Wish me luck!
