Happy porcelain marry-versary to us!

Happy 18 years married to my lovely Mr Leon 💞 We have decided to ‘gift’ each other a long weekend break to Nuremberg, which is in Bavarian Germany. I’d love to say it’s for a specific reason, but the flights were a good time, the price was right, and when I looked it up online, it looked pretty! Helps we can both speak the language to a degree too. Done and done!

We set off from home at 8am this morning to Stansted, a little bleary eyes after going to an ABBA tribute with my Mum last night. Funnily enough, she gave me a little porcelain trinket box that my Dad had given her, many decades ago, before they divorced, not even on purpose for the anniversary! So that seemed fitting!

We had a traditional holiday McBreakfast, and once through security, began to relax ready for our short 90min flight.

We had a really smooth ride and I watched 3/4 of a film I downloaded called Mid90s. Really cool soundtrack by Trent Reznor!

We stomped our way through the airport, spent about half hour at border control, and found the U-Bahn (underground trains).

Upon surfacing, we were intending on getting a bus or tram for the 2nd half of the journey from the airport to the centre, but realised it was only a half hour walk, so we took the opportunity to stretch our legs, and soak in the vibe. Less posh than Baden, an artsy vibe, more diversity and melt of cultures, we like! We stop at Döner King and grab a pizza to share, beautifully thin and tasty, made fresh in-front of us! For €9.50, you can’t go wrong.

We got nearer to the old town, and saw the Alte Rastatt huge gothic church like place, we will come back to explore, an intriguing round grey foreboding building, and many of the old gorgeous half timber buildings. We were keen to offload our bags, so we didn’t stop to explore too much.

We found our hotel ‘Burghotel’, and currently just sitting writing this post! Time to get back out there before dark/ things close. Laters!
