Girl’s hol: Day 3 – boat trip & creme Catalan

I slept fairly well, waking up at 6:30 for a wee, so as we are in our ahead of my normal time. Went back to sleep and woke up at 8:30 so again my normal time! I guess I do have a body clock! Linds made a delicious fruit salad, with two peaches, a plum and some cherries, which we had alongside some Greek yoghurt and honey. Scrummy! Places don’t open till 10 am here so there was no point in rushing; we had a nice slow breakfast and got ourselves ready to pop out for a few hours in the morning before it got too hot.

We moseyed on down to the beach front, as Linds wanted to see how much the boat trips were… their happened to be on leaving in two minutes time (10:30), so we paid €25 each and we’re happy to have an hour long trip along the sea caves in a glass bottomed boat!

We got back from the boat trip about 11.30am and we’re both a bit thirsty so we stopped at the same café as yesterday, Blau Blanc, cunningly named as everything is blue and white striped! I had a green smoothie which was ready lovely and tropical flavoured, and Linds had some good old-fashioned water.

We were begin to feel a bit peckish by this point, so began to look at the local restaurants nearby. We found one that was suitably shaded and reasonably priced for a set menu. After we had ordered, we had quite a surprise that they began to mist us! It’s a good job that we had never been subject to a concentration camp because it certainly would’ve brought back some PTSD! The pole of which you can see behind Lindsay‘s head began to eject a fine mist in all directions, covering our spectacles! I don’t think it was really necessary. However, the food was amazing. For starters, Linds had a bowl of rock mussels in the most delicious sauce, and I had fried eggplant with honey and goats cheese. Now the main has a little bit of a twist. I ordered the Iberian pork Pluma, and Linds ordered the Catalan cod with their version of ratatouille and we were going to go half and half. The waitress repeated it back to us and even upon presenting us with our meals she said ‘who has the cod’ as she gave what was most definitely a steak to Lindsay. She decided that is what the universe wanted her to have and it would help with iron, so just accepted it without any fuss. It explains why the waitress asked Linds how she wanted her cod cooked!! (‘Medium? rare?’). After all of that food we are both incredibly full but then they brought out their secret weapon. They had the desert that Linds has been desperate to try: Creme Catalan. And it did not disappoint! Imagine a perfect crème brûlée with a citrus hint and cinnamon. We shared one between us just so that we could have a taste without making ourselves ill. All of that for €58! (About £50). Very happy and now ready for siesta at 2.30pm.
